Cadet Electrical Engineer
About the Role
This is an entry-level engineering position suited to a graduate or cadet looking to build a strong foundation in electrical engineering within a practical, project-based environment.
Working closely with experienced engineers, you will be exposed to a wide range of engineering activities including design, drafting, site work, and project support. You will be supported and mentored as you develop your technical skills, with the opportunity to progressively take on more responsibility over time.
This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, takes initiative, and is looking to grow into a well-rounded engineer within a consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the preparation of engineering designs and documentation under supervision
- Support drafting and design of LV and HV electrical networks
- Assist with project coordination, documentation, and reporting
- Undertake site visits as required to support engineering activities
- Learn and apply relevant Australian Standards and client requirements
- Assist with the preparation of quotes, tenders, and technical reports
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation
- Support the engineering team in delivering projects on time and within scope
- Contribute to a safe working environment and follow all safety procedures
About You
This role will suit someone who is motivated to learn and develop their engineering career. To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering (or currently completing)
- Strong interest in electrical design, power systems, or infrastructure projects
- Basic AutoCAD skills or willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new systems and processes
- Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team
- A proactive attitude with the willingness to take initiative and ask questions
Desirable: - Exposure to electrical distribution or building services
- Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, PowerCad, ETAP, or similar
- Understanding of Australian Standards
- Previous internship or practical experience in an engineering environment

Electrical Designer / Drafter
About the Role
This is a hands-on drafting and design role supporting the delivery of electrical engineering projects.
You will work closely with engineers and other team members to produce accurate, high quality drawings and documentation in line with project and client requirements.
The role suits someone who enjoys technical work, takes pride in accuracy and detail, and is looking to further develop their skills within a professional engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and produce electrical design drawings using AutoCAD
- Assist with the design of LV and HV electrical networks
- Interpret engineering designs, specifications, and project requirements
- Update and maintain drawing registers and project documentation
- Ensure drafting outputs meet quality, accuracy, and compliance standards
- Work closely with engineers to support project delivery
- Assist with revisions and updates to drawings as projects evolve
- Contribute to maintaining drafting standards and templates
- Liaise with internal team members to ensure project requirements are met
About You
This role will suit someone with solid drafting experience and a strong attention to detail. To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven AutoCAD experience
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical information
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and improve
- Energex and/or Ergon Energy design experience Desirable:
- Electrical distribution, transmission and/or building services experience
- Trade qualification or Associate Diploma (or equivalent experience)
- Experience with PLS-CADD, Perfect Lite, PowerCad, ETAP, LV Drop, CYME
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards
- Street and public lighting design experience
